Lagunita's: Pale Ale

Transparent light amber color, white head. Super flowery hop with a decent bittering hop portion. If it had a better bittering this would be an IPA. This characteristic (to me) doesn't make it a great Pale but it wasn't terrible. This could have been a much better pale should it have been toned down a bit.

Lagunita's: Hairy Eyeball

Heavy maple, thick malt smell and flavor. Tastes like some imperial stouts. Head poured an off white with a deep mahogony color. Not super drinkable but a decent beer to go with a steak dinner. Once of the heavier beers on tap tonight at the Green Frog/Acoustic Tavern.

Lagunitas Sonoma Farmhouse Hop Stoopid Ale

Hop Stoopid

The name got me... Turns out it was worth buying. Starts with a good hop smell, it had a really appealing smell. Good bittersweet hop bite up front that faded and smoothed to a sweet finish. Good body too, very imperial IPAish. Almost a lemony fruity taste that keeps poping up. I'd like to know what hops they used. No weird resiny taste like some IPA's have, overall I liked the beer a lot.

Lagunitas - Brown Shugga

Lagunitas - Brown Shugga

Mmmmm I like winter seasonals. Very thick beer, excellent balance between way too sweet and way to hoppy. Not something I'd drink a lot of but a great beer. Kind of reminds me of a candied apple with the sweet and bitter balance thing.

Lagunitas: IPA

This IPA is a good one. Very clear body, light mouthfeel, flowery hop flavor. It's a little sweet but very subdued compared to some IPA's. Lagunita's traditionally has great IPA's and have never lacked in the hop arena. I would have liked it to be a little thicker but that's why lagunita's have other beers!

Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout

Results of the "Stout Hole" test below

Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout

First thing I noticed is that I can see through it. Hmmmm I think Munkey 1 and I are going to introduce a new stout test. I call it the "Stout Hole." You know, like black hole, but with stout instead of black... come on, I'm trying to be witty....

Moving on

I remember this beer being better. It tastes like a sweet reheated cup of coffee. Its got a little funk on the end of the pallet that I don't remember it having, I'm a little disappointed. Smells ok, kinda like my coffee grinder. Its pretty thick, definatly has a presence on the tounge. I'm going to have to try it again later in the season, I could have sworn I really liked this one last time I tried it.
