Rogue hair of beard
Red barley wine. Good color, white head, nice thick body. Classic rogue.
Oregon trail ales
Smoke signal ale. Fire roasted barley. Good finish, smokey aftertaste with nothing present in the mouth. Good for a smoked.
Fort George
Coffee girl stout. Awesome. Passes stout hole in a 1.5" glass. Kung pow in my face. Usually used to coffee porters so this is good but different.
Walking man brewery
Northwest imperial oatmeal porter. Is take a picture, but imagine a black hole. There ya go. Not what I was expecting. Smooth like an oatmeal, bite like a imperial, no porter tastes. Fail.

Anderson valley
Nettied madge black ipa. Dry hop sweet smell, black body, not a good ipa, not a good porter.

Rogue: Double dead guy, 2008

This beer has been keeping around for a while and now seemed just a good time as ever. Poured a little cloudy but the head was still clean. I do enjoy the regular dead guy and this one tastes close but a bit more imperial. I don't think age has treated this beer well as its lacking some flavor that I was looking for. No guaranty that it was stored correctly either so that might have something to do with it. I'll see if I can grab some this weekend from rogue when I'm there. To be continued.

Rogue: Dirtoir Black Lager

Holy cow this stuff pours nicely! The head is a super dark foam that had a dense top. The pour is viscous and uneventful as it filled my glass. No bubbles or gurgles like I just poured some 5w30 out of it's container. Very impressive for a lager, even impressive if it was a porter! The smell is great and reminds me of every great porter I've had in the past, even mine. The body is just as good! Thick on the tongue and coats my mouth with a thick burnt slighty chocolately deliciousness. Great bitterness too, kinda filled my senses and and stayed there reminding me that there was more in the glass to indulge in. No way this is a porter.

GYO, label says Grow Your Own. They grew the hops and barley? Huh. Who does that? Doesn't seem that they grew ALL the grain but at least one or two of them. They did however grow the hops. What makes this a lager? Hmm. If you EVER see this on the shelf, get it.

Oh, wow, this stuff is thick! And pungent - strong sweet barlywiny beery smell explodes when you pour it!

I was a little overwhelmed with my first sip - wayyyyyy sweeter than I was expecting. But that turned out to be a good thing. Sweet and almost chewy, this beer was a sipper. No real alcohol sharpness, but you know it's there. Some roasty malt flavors come out as it warms up. Butterscotch carmel flavors dominate, this beer is almost like a carmel flavored port wine. No real hop flavors, but I'm ok with that because this is definatly a desert beer, kinda spendy but worth a try.

My official review:
It's an amber. It tastes better than Mac and Jack's. I will never buy it again.

Rogue: Chocolate Stout

This one poured thick black (dark brown) with a brown head. Before I took my sip I caught a whiff of the chocolate and hops. It isn't as sweet as most stout's I've had but it has a smoothness and a lingering bitterness. This could be bit thicker but being it is a chocolate stout I think it was blended well. It has a sharp bite from the alcohol content but is very drinkable and smooth. It was good but not my favorite Rogue beer.

Rogue: Yellow Snow IPA

Yellowish body, white head, and a decent mouthfeel. It has good drinkalotability and a very simple grain bill and hop list. Two row, cara foam (?) Melanoiden, with Amarillo hops. tastes pretty good to me. The amarillo hops tend to stick around and their flavor lingers for a nice aftertaste. I approve.

Rogue: Imperial Stout

This is a thick beer not for the feint of heart. Thick, heavy body, and tan head, this beer sits very heavy on the pallet. Not an overwhelming maple presence accompanies this one as many other imperial stouts do. This beer has a great smokey yet sweet flavor to it as well. Being that it is so thick though with such a high abv (11%), I'd recommend this as either a sipper or a one glasser. Good beer!

Rogue: Imperial Stout

Munkey 1 and I shared this after the Oaked Tard Munkey. It was an excellent beer but unfortunatly it did not follow the Tard Munkey very well because it was fairly bitter.

Slight coffee chocholate smell, medium full body, nice dark dense head. Starts out smooth but finishes kind of bitter. Muted alcohol presense. The bitter aftertasete is still there and kinda gritty, not sure whats going on there. I would have liked a heavier mouthfeel for an imperial, more like the double dead guy.

I suspect this beer would be better when drank on its own with a sweetish desert, like burnt cream. I'm reserving final judgement until I can give it a second review.

Rogue: Sharktooth Ale

I'm not even gonna take a picture of this one. It was just like the other one. Seems like they were trying to make a lager? This is not why I buy Rogue beer. It is super light, very crisp body, no head. It has a Bavarian Hop spiciness to it, tastes citrisy and spicy. That's about it....

Rogue: Chinookie Ale

Well this is an odd one. It doesn't happen very often that I think a Rogue beer is blah. For starters, it poured very light, white thin head, and was see-through! I actually had someone ALMOST pour their wine in it cause they thought it was BERINGER White Zinfidel! Uncharacteristicly sweet, this has a sharp bite that quickly fades to, "what was that?". It's not that it was terrible, it just wasn't what it could be, or what I expect. If they were trying to be a light beer, they did a good job? Meh, just not my favorite.

Rogue: Younger's Special Bitter Ale

At my first sip I really didn't know what to think. Ale? IPA? Lager? A couple more sips and I was hooked on this ale. It poured a very clear, light golden colored beer. The hop presence is not very pronounced but very well balanced for how light the body is. The reason I put lager on the potential list is because this beer finishes so amazingly clean and has a great light bubbly mouthfeel. Kudo's to Rogue for another good beer.

This is a dang good beer!

Rogue: Warrior Ale

This is not an ale! This is a porter through and through. Dark tan head, black body, thick chocolate and brown malt tones, light finish, and what could be sweetness has been transformed to a great burnt porter chaulkiness. What this beer lacks in exuberant flavor and pazazz it has made up in a decent drinkable porter er, I mean ale?

Brewmunkey 1 and I will probably be doing a comparison of this to normal dead guy ale. Look for the full review on it then.

Rogue: Sea Otter Amber Ale

Medium color, medium body. Hopping is light but spicy. The head was slight off white but reasonably clear. Not as chocolately as our brew but a good solid beer. It was smooth and very easy to drink. I think the hop spice overpowered some of the usual tastes but it wasn't overbearing. I guess I'm just running out of stuff to say. It was a good beer and I'd have another!

Rogue: Oregon Golden Ale

Pale ale's certaintly have a good thing going for them. Especially when crafted like this. Medium body and light hop with a slight flowery taste. Not as hoppy as some but a great beer. I think its body is what sets it apart. It is far more drinkable than some of its thicker counterparts. This one is up there for pale ales and I'd recommend trying it should you get the chance.

Rogue: Oregon Golden Ale

Rogue: Brutal Bitter

I like it. Its an Imperial IPA but its not too thick like some I've had. Medium golden body, doesn't cling or coat the mouth (aside from the hops). Very good IPA. Imperial.... Eh, sure. Compared to what I would consider a standard IPA it does well. I would think Imperial would mean huge body and darker color. Maybe I'll change what I think about what an Imperial IPA should be. I think its about borderline too much hop but done VERY well. Not exceedingly dry hopped.

I guess I'd say overall great balance, great body, great hops, get some.

Dicks brewery: ipa - good, overly dry hopped, not sweet. That's good. 90ibu

grand teton brewery: bitch creek esb - choclaty, medium body, dark color, I would brew my esb more like this. get yours!

Rogue beer crust pizza: lol, good stuff. Needs more toppings. Tomato sauce with cheese. Blah. It worked.

Lost Coast: Great white - um. Better than pbr? Its lagerish. Very light. No flavor in either the hop or malt variety. Still, better than most american lagers? I think there are some better. One in our crew got this and I tried it, I'm not gonna waste my tickets on this.

stone: levitation ale - mmmm. I like stone. This is more of a light bodied IPA. Its rated at half the IBU as Dicks IPa. What's going on here? Is BrewMunkey_A correct in his IBU rating? It is ppssible. This is a decent IPa. I recommend it. Better than Dicks? I'd say its on par.

Summit Brewery: Extra Pale Ale - hey, not a bad ale. Its got decemt flavor, mediaum/dark body
, good body. I like for what it is

The Rogue Hero

I was there at the Rogue Hero on Friday night having a beer and watching The Collected. Good times. They have a few beers on tap, of which the following I had:

Elysian Immortal IPA
Elysian Perseus Porter
Rogue Dead Guy Ale

The Immortal was pretty damn good for an IPA. Nice carmel color, good bitterness, and wasn't excessively dry hopped.

The Perseus Porter was good too, but not a good chaser to the IPA. It wasn't all too sweet and lacked that husk/grit mouthfeel some porters get (which is good). Very dark color and followed the style well. Wasn't excessively thick and drank easily. Since I had the IPA first, it was hard to taste the hops. I wonder what would happen if I mixed the two....

The Dead Guy was a very good finishing beer. Little sweet, little bitter, good ale. I believe it is dry hopped as it has a fresh hop taste and leaves a thick feeling on the palet. Still a favorite of mine but I can't drink more than two in a row. I actually had a chance to go to the Rogue Pub in Newport Oregon, its good there too!
